About Indian Hill

Choosing Indian Hill, Cincinnati homes for sale can include expansive estates and mansions that were built in the early 1800s. Located in eastern Cincinnati, this is home to many prominent and well-to-do residents in this area. The homes are often hidden to provide the privacy and seclusion desired. They are bordered by woods with bridle trails that go through the village and surrounding areas for approximately 200 miles. Additionally, over 2,000 acres are owned by the village of Indian Hill and provide many recreational opportunities for residents of Indian Hill, Cincinnati real estate. Parks, softball and baseball diamonds, tennis courts, soccer and lacrosse fields and a basketball court as well as nature trails, playgrounds and picnic areas are provided.

Although this community of approximately 5,000 residents is actually a city, it retained ‘village’ in the official name. Before 1970 Indian Hill was incorporated as a village; however, after the population grew to more than 5,000, the community was designated as a city. Originally Indian Hill, Cincinnati real estate was a farming community. Around 1904 farmhouses began to be purchased by those from the city as a weekend get-a-way.

In 1924, four businessmen who owned homes in Indian Hill along with friends formed the Camargo Realty Company. The company purchased 12,000 acres, which was divided into 25-acre parcels that were sold and mansions began to be built. Many included stables and kennels. This was the beginning of Indian Hill, Cincinnati real estate becoming known as the home of the city’s elite.

Residents are served by the Exempted Village School District. The village contains many one-room schoolhouses that were the beginning of public education in the area. The schools in Indian Hill today are award-winning schools and education is a priority. Indian Hill High School has been nationally recognized for excellence in education and was recently ranked 48th in the nation in U.S. News and World Report. In addition, the school was named a 2007 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School.

The city has been named “Best Place to Raise a Family” by the Robb Report magazine. Indian Hill, Cincinnati real estate is valued by residents for its many beneficial aspects including the maintenance of a rural atmosphere within close proximity to the amenities provided by a large city.
